At the HAARZENTRUM AN DER OPER, we offer effective help for women who suffer from hereditary and inflammatory hair loss through autohaemotherapy, also known as PRP therapy or the vampire treatment. Here, PRP stands for platelet-rich plasma, which activates microcirculation and, at the same time, stimulates the body’s own stem cells to form healthy hair as well as to extend the lifespan of said hair.
Process
After drawing blood from the patient and centrifuging it, the platelet-rich plasma which is obtained as a result is prepared individually for the patient with a highly-concentrated cocktail of active ingredients. As soon as approximately ten minutes after blood has been taken, it is then injected directly into the areas of the scalp affected by hair loss. Four applications are usually necessary for visible results. One session lasts around 15 minutes.
Preparation
To rule out risks, we recommend that patients ensure that they do not use any acetylsalicylic acid-containing painkillers ten days before autohaemotherapy.
Anaesthesia
In most cases, autohaemotherapy is carried out under local anaesthetic as an outpatient.
After the treatment
As, when it comes to the injection material, we are dealing with a substance produced by your own body, the method is very well tolerated. However, you may experience some slight redness and swelling after the treatment.
Washing your hair for the first time
There is no reason why you shouldn’t be able to wash your hair again as usual two days after the treatment.
